Maharashtra government clears tripartite MoU for Pune Metro Corridor 2A and 2B Projects

The Government of Maharashtra has cleared the tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the corridors 2A (Vanaz-Chandini Chowk) and 2B (Ramwadi-Wagholi) under the Pune Metro Project.

The MoU includes the financial and operational roles of all stakeholders and directs Maha Metro to fund the project through transit-oriented development, additional floor space index, and the development of government land.

Further, any expenditure beyond the detailed project report (DPR) will require clearance from the State Finance Department and additional costs will be met through Maha Metro’s dedicated urban transport fund. The MoU has now been forwarded to the central government.

Corridor 2A spans 1.12 km with two stations whereas corridor 2B spans 11.63 km with 11 stations. The projects entail an investment of Rs 36.26 billion and will be equally borne by the state government, central government and external funding agencies.
