Gujarat Maritime Board signs Rs 170 billion MoU to expand Pipavav Port

The Gujarat Maritime Board and Gujarat Pipavav Port Limited have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a capital investment of Rs 170 billion aimed at significantly enhancing the infrastructure and capacity of the Pipavav Port in Gujarat.

The MoU, signed in Gandhinagar, focuses on expanding container, liquid-cargo, bulk-cargo and roll-on/ roll-off (ro-ro) handling capacities at Pipavav Port. Key components include constructing liquid-cargo berths, installing mechanical bulk-handling systems, developing modern container terminals, deploying digital operations and building eco-friendly infrastructure.

The investment is expected to generate around 25,000 direct and indirect jobs and will bolster Gujarat’s vision of becoming India’s maritime gateway.
