Shell receives environmental clearance for expansion of LNG terminal at Hazira port in Gujarat

Shell Energy India Private Limited has reportedly received the environmental clearance for the expansion of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at Hazira port in Gujarat from 6.28 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 26.2 mtpa. The expansion is likely to entail an investment of Rs 216 billion. According to sources, the expansion to 26.2 mtpa would include a 1.2 mtpa truck loading terminal and 25 mtpa of regasification. It would see the construction of LNG storage tanks, new truck loading facilities, and the construction of a jetty and breakwater.
