CEA issues directive on identification of generating station unit(s) for captive use by SPV

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has issued a directive requiring all generating stations owned by special purpose vehicles (SPVs) to declare the units identified for captive use in FY 2025-26. The SPV-owned generating stations seeking captive status verification must officially inform the identified captive units to the verifying authority, the concerned distribution licensee and the relevant regional or state load despatch centre.
