Indian Railways achieves freight loading of 801 mt in FY 2025-26 (till September 2025) 

Indian Railways (IR) achieved a cumulative freight loading of 801 million tonnes (mt) during the financial year (FY) 2025-26 (till September 2025), representing a 3.2 per cent increase over the corresponding period last year. This includes a nine per cent rise in container volumes (both domestic and export-import) and a one per cent increase in coal loading, among others. The cumulative freight revenue during this period stood at Rs 851.04 billion.

In September 2025 alone, IR recorded a freight loading of 127.5 mt, marking a four per cent increase compared to the same month last year. This includes 61.1 mt of coal loading, which remained largely unchanged from last year, and 10.7 mt of miscellaneous goods loading, which saw a 16 per cent increase. Freight revenue for September 2025 stood at Rs 136.46 billion, reflecting a three per cent year-on-year increase.
