Indian Railways (IR) launched its first container train service with an assured transit time between Delhi and Kolkata on a pilot basis, from October 1, 2025. The bi-weekly service will connect the Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Tughlakabad in Delhi to Container Corporation of India Limited’s (CONCOR’s) CTKR/ CTCS terminal in Kolkata, via CONCOR’s terminals at Agra (ICDY) and Kanpur (ICDG). The train will depart every Wednesday and Saturday, offering a guaranteed transit-time of 120 hours, a first for container services on this corridor.
Additionally, CONCOR has announced a waiver of empty wagon haulage charges from Tughlakabad to Kanpur to encourage adoption.
