Central Railway (CR) has completed locomotive trials of Kavach in the Mumbai division, with trials conducted at Somatne, Apta and Jite stations on the Panvel-Roha section. With this, CR has become the first zone to complete locomotive trials of Kavach across all its divisions, within six months of awarding the tender for Kavach work.
The first locomotive trial was conducted on the Balwani-Kem-Dhavlas section of the Solapur division on September 10, 2025. Further, the installation of stationary Kavach and locomotive trials were conducted on the Belapur-Rahuri-Padhegaon section of the Pune division and the Palachuri-Iklehra-Parasia section of the Nagpur division.
In addition, CR has already awarded tenders for Kavach installation across its entire network, spanning 4,000 route km (rkm).
