ONGC, BP Exploration and RIL sign agreement for offshore exploration at Saurashtra Basin

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), BP Exploration (Alpha) Limited and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) signed a joint operating agreement for offshore exploration at the GS-OSHP-2022/2 Block, Saurashtra Basin in Gujarat on July 28, 2025. The GS-OSHP-2022/2 Block is located at the western coast of the Saurashtra Basin with an area of 5,454 square km, awarded under the Open Acreage Licensing Policy-IX. Under the agreement, ONGC has been named as the operator of the block and will now commence exploration works to check the hydrocarbon reserves and evaluate the possibility of future production.
