The Central Railway (CR) has conducted its first trial of the Kavach system in the Solapur division. The trial covered a distance of 26 km, between the Dhavalas and Bhalwani stations, and tested several features, including signal passed at danger (SPAD) at stop signals, block section SOS (emergency) generation, station master SOS (emergency) generation, and overspeed prevention at turnouts.
Additionally, the zone’s first Kavach stimulation lab and training centre at Kurduwadi in Solapur district has been operationalised, along with a new factory acceptance test (FAT) setup.
Furthermore, CR flagged off its 50th Kavach-equipped locomotive at the Electric Loco Shed, Kalyan, under the Mumbai division in August 2025. The Railway Board (RB) has also sanctioned the provision of Kavach in 730 locomotives of the zone in the first phase.
