The Central Railway (CR) has achieved a freight loading of 5.61 million tonnes (mt) in August 2025, marking a two per cent increase compared to the same period last year. Commodity wise, the zone registered a 200 per cent increase in the loading of iron ore and pallets, 158 per cent in clinker, 15 per cent in petroleum products and three per cent in containers, among others.
Additionally, CR increased the average speeds of goods trains to 13.99 km per hour (kmph) in August 2025, reflecting a four per cent rise over the same period last year.
