Uttar Pradesh government outlines strategic short-term water-related and other targets under Viksit UP-2047 vision

The government of Uttar Pradesh has outlined strategic short-term water related targets for 2030 in the Viksit UP-2047 vision document. These include 100 per cent access to clean drinking water, sanitation, accomplishment of complete sewage treatment, and other aspects in Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) cities.

Furthermore, priority is being given to strengthening sewerage and waste management systems. There is a higher focus on developing scientifically advanced and modernised sewage treatment facilities to ensure the effective collection, treatment, and safe disposal of wastewater. Further, around 342 km of drains have been constructed across 240 urban local bodies under the state’s Mukhyamantri Nagar Srijan Yojana.
