South Western Railway achieves freight loading of 4.22 mt in August 2025 

South Western Railway (SWR) achieved a freight loading of 4.22 million tonnes (mt) in August 2025, marking an increase of 26.3 per cent over the corresponding period last year.

Moreover, the zone generated total revenue of Rs 7.55 billion, which includes Rs 4.18 billion from the freight segment, Rs 3.05 billion from the passenger segment, Rs 240 million from other coaching services, Rs 135 million from parcel traffic, and Rs 83 million from sundry earnings.

Commodity wise, SWR recorded 1.68 mt of iron ore, 0.94 mt of steel, 0.75 mt of coal, 0.32 mt of cement, 0.23 mt of raw material for steel plant (RMSP), 0.21 mt of balance other goods and 0.17 mt of mineral oil, among others.
