Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL), via its Shipbuilding and Maritime Systems (SMS) division, has secured its largest-ever order, valued at Rs 4.67 billion from Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE). The contract involves the construction, trials, and delivery of two coastal research vessels (CRVs) for the Geological Survey of India.
These CRVs are designed to significantly boost India’s maritime research capacity, enabling advanced seabed geology studies, mineral exploration, ocean environment monitoring, and long-duration scientific missions. Each vessel will operate within India’s Exclusive Economic Zone, at depths of 5 to 1,000 meters, and boast a service life of 30 years.
