The centre has formally inaugurated the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) projects worth Rs 110 billion in Rohini.
The two projects are intended to reduce travel times, alleviate urban traffic, and enhance connectivity throughout the National Capital Region (NCR).
While UER-II will relieve traffic on Delhi’s inner and outer ring roads as well as major choke points like Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09, the Dwarka Expressway will strengthen connections between Gurgaon and Delhi. It is anticipated that the developments will reduce the travel time to the airport from the Singhu Border to only 40 minutes.
The new projects will result in a 50 per cent reduction in traffic in Delhi. The centre also revealed plans for a 5 km twin-tube tunnel that will connect Nelson Mandela Marg to the Dwarka Expressway’s Shiv Murti interchange.
