ADB sanctions a soft loan of Rs 42.5 billion to Puducherry

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has sanctioned a soft loan of Rs 42.5 billion to Puducherry for infrastructure development. The loan will be payable over 50 years, carrying an interest rate of three to four per cent. The funds will be utilised for various infrastructure projects, including a desalination plant, construction of bed dams across the Pennayar and the Sankarabarani rivers, underground drainage pipelines, and widening of roads.
