The state government of Telangana has decided to develop around 13,137 km of roads. Of the total, around 7,947 km will be under the Panchayat Raj department and 5,190 km under the roads and building (R&B) department in 17 packages, each. The government is currently in the process of calling for tenders for the proposed projects. Additionally, it is working to overcome the difficulties faced by contractors. Due to the growing traffic problems, some roads will be upgraded into four-lane roads.
Under the hybrid annuity model (HAM), the state government has decided to construct around 12,000 km of roads. In the first phase, around 5,190 km of roads will be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 64.78 billion. In the second phase, around 6,810 km of roads are planned for development.
