The centre has approved the Lucknow Metro Rail Project (East-West Corridor) on August 12, 2025.
The project involves development of a new corridor in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh spanning 11.16 km and has about 12 stations in total. Seven stations from Charbagh-Niwazganj are likely to be underground spanning 6.87 km, while remaining five stations from Vasant Kunj-Thakurganj will be elevated spanning 4.28 km. The project entails an investment of Rs 58.01 billion.
The project aims to connect key commercial hubs such as Aminabad, Yahyaganj, Pandeyganj and Chowk along with major healthcare center, King George Medical University. It will also connect prominent tourist attractions like Bara Imambara, Chota Imambara, Bhool Bhulaiya, Clock Tower and Rumi Darwaza.
