Northern Railway (NR) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tehri Hydro Development Corporation India Limited (THDCIL) for the procurement of 400 megawatts (MW) of hydroelectric power, to be sourced from the Kalai-II Hydro Electric Project (1200 MW) located in Arunachal Pradesh. This agreement will enable a cost-effective and sustainable power supply for Indian Railways (IR).
Besides, the zone has already tied up 621 MW of renewable power through various renewable energy project developers.
