The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has accelerated work on outstanding road projects (923 projects) with the goal of completing at least 50 per cent of these by end March 2026. To achieve this, they have expedited approvals, made land acquisition process quicker, and have provided timely central fund approval. In addition, a rigorous monitoring system has been established to guarantee that they meet the updated completion date, with a monthly evaluation of these projects conducted at the highest level.
MoRTH estimates that a total of Rs 7.7 trillion will be spent to complete these projects, which is more than the initial estimate of Rs 7.3 trillion and the revised estimate of Rs 7.6 trillion.
The June quarter saw the completion of 81 road projects (69.8 per cent), significantly outperforming the completion of 59 road projects (56.2 per cent) during the same period in the previous year.
