Prime Minister lays foundation stone for Powergrid’s Kudankulam Unit-3&4 for Rs 5.5 billion  

The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for Powergrid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid)’s transmission system under inter state transmission system for evacuation of power from Kudankulam Unit-3&4 (2×1000 MW) in Tuticorin for Rs 5.5 billion.

The project will enable evacuation of 2 GW of clean and sustainable power to beneficiary states and union territories including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka & Puducherry. The project involves 400 kV (quad) Kudankulam nuclear power plant (3&4) – Tuticorin-II gas insulated substation (GIS) transmission line & two 400 kV GIS line terminal equipments at Tuticorin-II GIS.
