According to the senior vice president, Jio platforms (JPL), the telecom operator has activated 10 network slices on its indigenous 5G standalone (SA) core infrastructure to support a range of applications.
These 5G network slices have been specifically designed for enterprise solutions, the internet of things (IoT), gaming, Jio’s fixed wireless access (FWA) product JioAirFiber and critical mission-based services.
Network slicing is a capability introduced by 5G SA networks that enables telecom operators to establish multiple virtual network slices across a single physical infrastructure. Each slice functions independently, ensuring dedicated performance and avoiding congestion, with features specifically aligned to the needs of individual use cases.
