Indian Railway (IR) has sanctioned a total of 52 projects in Bihar, covering 4,663 km with an overall investment of Rs 861.07 billion, till April 2025. This includes 31 new line projects, 20 doubling projects and one gauge conversion project. Moreover, 1,014 km of the sanctioned projects have been completed at an expenditure of Rs 293.53 billion till March 2025.
Besides, IR has sanctioned 218 road over bridges (ROBs)/ road under bridges (RUBs) in the state, at a cost of Rs 60.14 billion; these are at various stages of planning and execution. Currently, IR operates 20 Vande Bharat Express services and 10 Amrit Bharat Express services in Bihar.
