The Union Government is expected to inaugurate the 51-km long Itwari-Umred section of the Nagpur-Nagbhid Railway Gauge Conversion Project by October 2025.
The project involves conversion of 106 km long Nagpur-Nagbhid narrow gauge railway line into broad gauge (BG) in Maharashtra at an estimated cost of Rs 9.22 billion. It will boost the freight and passenger traffic on the section and will provide improved transportation of coal to nearby coal mines.
