On July 18, 2025, the Indian Navy commissioned the first of the two diving support vessels, ‘Nistar’ at Visakhapatnam.
Built by Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) with more than 80 per cent indigenous content, the vessel will join the Eastern Naval Command to support deep sea diving and submarine rescue operations.
The vessel is 120 meters long with upward displacement of 10,500 tonnage. It has the capacity to maintain its position with extreme accuracy, using dynamic positioning system.
