Tunnel boring machine (TBM) T60 achieved first and final breakthrough at Airport Shaft Colony under Package CA-48 of the Mumbai Metro Line 7A [Andheri East- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA)] on July 14, 2025. It was commissioned in November 2023 at CSMIA Terminal 2 and travelled for 1.65 km till Airport Colony ramp.
Package CA-48 involves construction of a 2.49 km long down-line tunnel on CSMIA’s Terminal 2-Airport Colony Station stretch and onwards to a ramp on the Western Express Highway. J. Kumar Infraprojects Limited was awarded the contract for the same in September 2019.
Mumbai Metro Line 7A is the extension of Line 7 which will connect Andheri East to CSMIA. The total length of Line 7A will be 3.42 km, of which 2.49 km will be underground.
