Indian Railways (IR) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), for the installation of a Machine Vision Based Inspection System (MVIS) to enhance train safety and automate the maintenance of rolling stock.
The MVIS is an artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML)-based technology solution installed on wayside. It captures high-resolution images of the under-gear of moving trains and automatically detects any hanging, loose, or missing components. Upon detecting anomalies, the system generates real-time alerts to enable immediate response and preventive action. As part of the MoU, DFCCIL will procure, supply, install, test, and commission four MVIS units.
