EMS Limited has won a contract for an amount worth Rs 7,819.8 million for implementation of the River Adi Ganga Pollution Abatement Project in Kolkata. Bids for the same were invited by Kolkata Municipal Corporation in August 2023.
The scope of the project includes construction of sewage treatment plants (STPs) of total capacity 25.1 mld [3 STPs; 11.6 mld (Bansdroni)+ 10 mld (Briji Road) + 3.5 mld (Golf Garden)], gravity sewer line of length 23.5 km, pressure main of length 25.95 km and 23 sewage pumping stations of combined capacity of 119.61 mld.
The work is likely to be completed in 30 months including a trial run for 3 months, followed by operation and maintenance period of 15 years.
