Invest UP has signed an MoU with Lucknow railway division under the Northern Railway zone to enhance logistics infrastructure and promote industrial development. The MoU allows logistics and warehousing investors to lease railway land at 1.5 per cent of the existing industrial or circle rate for a period of 35 years. Key implementation strategies include promoting PPPs, integrating land parcel data with the PM Gati Shakti Portal and mandating that one leg of transport be via rail to strengthen multimodal logistics. Under this MoU, IR aims to provide end-to-end transportation services if an investor develops a warehouse or logistics cargo terminal on its industrial complex. Second, if the investor’s industrial complex is adjacent to a railway property, IR will offer its land for the development of a cargo terminal to enable freight transport by train. Third, if the investor develops an industrial complex, they will be given preference, and the rail transport service will be more cost effective than road transport.
