The Kolkata airport witnessed the reopening of taxiway A and taxiway C on May 2, 2025. Taxiway A, the longest at the airport, spans a length of 2,940 metres, of which 1,644 metre was closed for an upgrade. Taxiway C was also shut for upgrades, in a move to strengthen it as part of upgrading the operational and apron area. The move is expected to reduce ground bottlenecks; ease ground traffic movement, especially during busy hours; and increase the operational capacity of the airport.
