The Meghalaya government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) have signed an MoU for the operation and maintenance of the Baljek airport located in West Garo hills in Meghalaya. The move will facilitate the operation of 20-seater aircraft from the airport. The airport is likely to see an upgrade to accommodate larger aircraft such as the ATR-72.
