THDC India Limited (THDCIL) has commissioned the first unit (250 MW) of the 1,000 MW Tehri pumped storage plant (PSP) in Uttarakhand.
The project is India’s first variable speed PSP and the largest of its kind implemented by a central public sector enterprise. The power electronics and controls, in addition to the 250 MW variable-speed pumped storage hydropower unit was supplied by GE Vernova.
