Chennai Metro Rail Limited launches longest U-girder at Ramapuram station under Chennai Metro Phase II Corridor V project

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has installed the longest 33.33 metres U-girder at Ramapuram station under the Chennai Metro Rail Phase II Corridor V (Madhavaram-Shollinganallur) project. Six such girders were launched over three spans, with two girders per span.

Besides, CMRL is likely to consider the long span U-girders for future alignment to optimise the cost and execution timelines.

The project involves development of 118.9 km three metro corridors (Corridor III, IV and V) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu at an estimated cost of Rs 632.46 billion. It is mostly underground with an elevated section confined to a few short stretches and consists of 128 stations in total.
