Tamil Nadu government grants in-principle approval for Poonamallee-Sunguvarchatram-Parandur Metro project

The government of Tamil Nadu has granted in-principle approval for the Poonamallee-Sunguvarchatram-Parandur Metro Rail project under the Chennai Metro Phase II Extension project. The project is likely to be developed in two phases, with Phase I planned to span from Poonamallee to Sunguvarchatram and Phase II further till Parandur.

The project will entail an investment of Rs 159.06 billion and spans across 52.94 km. The detailed project report (DPR) of the entire project is likely to be forwarded to the union government soon for approval.
