Bihar witnessed two notable developments on May 29, 2025, with the inauguration of the new terminal building of the Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport at Patna and the laying of the foundation stone for the new civil enclave at the Bihta Airport, in Bihar.
The new terminal building at the Patna airport was built at a cost of approximately Rs 12 billion and is set to boost the annual passenger handling capacity at the airport by 10 million passengers. The terminal spans an area of around 65,150 square metres and features world-class amenities.
The new civil enclave at the Bihta Airport would entail an investment of around Rs 14.13 billion. The terminal is likely to be spread over 68,000 square metres, with a peak hour handling capacity of 3,000 passengers and an annual passenger handling capacity of 5 million per annum until 2047.
