Central government inaugurates and lays foundation stone for key projects worth Rs 11.34 billion at Deendayal Port, Gujarat

The central government inaugurated projects worth Rs 5.32 billion at Deendayal Port in Gujarat on May 26, 2025. These include the oil jetty no. 8 project at Old Kandla. With a capacity of 3.5 million metric tonnes per annum, the jetty is equipped with telescopic gangways, indigenously developed quick-release mooring systems and an automated firefighting system, enabling safe handling of large liquid cargo vessels up to 0.1 million deadweight tonnage (DWT). Other projects inaugurated include a road connecting to the container terminal at Tuna Tekra and expansion of the port area for export-import cargo storage. Besides, there were other development initiatives to strengthen port operations, enhance community infrastructure and generate employment opportunities.

Additionally, the foundation stone was laid for projects worth Rs 6.02 billion. These projects include a 10 megawatt (MW) green hydrogen production facility at Kandla, construction of three road-over-bridges and upgradation to six lanes for modernising port logistics and easing city-port connectivity.
