Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory (JTRF), a subsidiary of Jupiter Wagons Limited, has commenced construction of its railway wheelset manufacturing facility, spread across 86 acres, at Haldiapada in Odisha. The facility is expected to be completed by 2027, with a total investment of around Rs 20 billion. It will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 wheelsets, 100,000 axles, and 200,000 forged discs.
The plant will be fully automated, integrated with industry 4.0 technologies, and equipped with energy-efficient features such as solar panels, a zero discharge-closed loop water recycling system, and the use of liquified natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) as sustainable fuels. Reportedly, the company also plans to export 50 per cent of its total production to Europe and North America, after meeting the requirements of Indian Railways.
