The Ministry of Railways (MoR) has submitted the realignment plan for the Pune-Nashik Semi-High Speed Rail (HSR) Line Project to the Government of Maharashtra for approval. The new alignment avoids the restricted zone around the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) at Khodad village near Narayangaon.
The project involves laying a new rail line between Pune and Nashik in Maharashtra. It was sanctioned in the Railway Budget 2013-14 and is expected to be completed in 3.5 years after the commencement of work. The project will be funded by the MoR and the state government equally.
