Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas launches fourth round of discovered small field auction and special coal bed methane Bid Round-2025

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) has launched the fourth round of the discovered small field (DSF) auction and special coal bed methane (CBM) bid round-2025 on April 15, 2025. The DSF bid round includes 55 discovered fields across nine contract areas with an estimated in-place reserves of 260 million tonnes (mt) of oil equivalent. The special CBM bid round includes three blocks. Of these, two blocks are located in West Bengal under Basin Category III, covering a total area of 330 square km, with CBM resources of approximately 10 billion cubic metres (bcm). The third block is located in Gujarat under Basin Category I in an area of 189 square km with an estimated CBM resource of 24 bcm.
