The Commissioner of Rail Safety (CRS) has completed the final inspections on 2.6 km Esplanade – Sealdah stretch under the Kolkata East West Metro project. The inspections included testing of tracks, tunnel, tunnel ventilation, train, emergency response features of metro train operations and other parameters.
Besides, the final clearance from CRS is now awaited for the stretch after which the entire 16.6 km project is likely to be commissioned.
The project involves construction and operation of a 16.6 km long metro connecting Sector 5, Salt Lake in Kolkata to Howrah Maidan through an underwater metro track at an estimated cost of Rs 100 billion in West Bengal.
