The Prime Minister has inaugurated the construction of the 800 MW Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram Power expansion project in Yamuna Nagar, Haryana. Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited has proposed to develop the project at an estimated cost of Rs 84.7 billion. The project is the expansion of the existing 2×300 MW power plant commissioned in 2008.
The Prime Minister also announced a target to raise Haryana’s total power generation capacity to 24,000 MW from the current 16,000 MW. Additionally, foundation was laid for a compressed biogas plant in Mukarabpur under the GOBARdhan initiative, with an annual production capacity of 2,600 metric tonnes.
