The Protection of Interest in Aircraft Objects Bill, 2025 was passed by the Lok Sabha on April 3, 2025, and was earlier passed by the Rajya Sabha on April 1, 2025.
The bill will align the aircraft leasing and financing ecosystem of India with global standards, building on the Cape Town Convention framework.
It aims to provide aircraft financiers with legal certainty by bridging existing gaps, ease the leasing process, and make the country an attractive destination for aviation investments. Further, it also aims to reduce the costs for Indian carriers.
