The Rajya Sabha passed the Protection of Interest in Aircraft Objects Bill, 2025 on April 1, 2025. The bill targets to align the aviation laws of India with global standards under the Cape Town Convention.
The move is expected to provide a boost to aircraft leasing and financing, and create security and clarity for lessors and lessees. Among others, leasing costs are likely to witness a reduction.
