Indian Railways to begin exporting locomotives from Madhepura factory in Bihar 

Indian Railways (IR) is expected to begin exporting locomotives manufactured at its Madhepura factory in Bihar soon. IR is currently exporting passenger coaches to Mozambique, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, while locomotives are being exported to Mozambique, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Bangladesh.

Further, bogie underframes are being exported to the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, France, and Australia, and propulsion parts are being exported to France, Mexico, Germany, Spain, Romania, and Italy. Furthermore, IR has manufactured a total of 1,400 locomotives and 200,000 wagons during the financial year (FY) 2024-25.
