Indian Railways (IR) has achieved freight loading of 1,465.37 million tonnes (mt) during 2024-25 (till March 2, 2025), marking an increase of 1.53 per cent over the 1,443.16 mt achieved in the same period last year.
Additionally, IR produced a total of 1,346 locomotives between April-January 2025, which is nine per cent higher than the 1,235 locomotives manufactured in 2023-24. During this period, 8,805 coaches and 83,275 axles were also produced, registering an increase of 12 per cent and 7 per cent, respectively, compared to last year.
