The government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP) has approved the transfer of 8,685 square metres (sqm) of land to the Housing and Urban Planning Department (HUPD) from the Department of Horticulture and Food Processing for corridor I (Sakandra-Taj Mahal East Gate). Also, the state government approved transfer of about 20,753 sqm land to HUPD from the Home Department for corridor II (Agra Cantonment – Kalindi Vihar) under the Agra metro project phase I.
For both the land parcels, HUPD will leasehold the land to Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL) for 90 years with an extension of 30 years at a nominal rate of Re 1.
The Agra metro project involves development of a 30 km long metro rail system in the city at an investment of Rs 83.79 billion.
