BSNL and MTNL raise a total of Rs 129.85 billion from asset monetisation

According to a written reply by Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Minister of State for Communications and Minister of State for Rural Development, to Lok Sabha, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) have earned a total of Rs 129.85 billion from monetisation of land, buildings, tower, and fibre since 2019. According to data shared by the minister, BSNL has earned Rs 23.88 billion and MTNL Rs 21.35 billion up to January 2025 from monetisation of lands and buildings.

Further, BSNL and MTNL are monetising only those land and building assets which are not required for its own use in foreseeable future and for which it has the rights to transfer the ownership.

The minister added, monetisation of assets is being done as per approved policy of the Government and its impact on the public sector undertakings (PSUs) are being monitored closely.
