Indian Railways (IR) plans to roll out nine more Vande Bharat sleeper trains between April 2025 and December 2025. Previously, in December 2024, IR placed an order for propulsion electrics for 50 rakes of the 24-car Vande Bharat sleeper trains, which are expected to be ready in two years. The order was awarded to M/s Medha Servo Drives Private Limited for the supply of propulsion systems for 33 rakes, and M/s Alstom for 17 rakes. Meanwhile, full-scale production of the train sets will commence in 2026-27.
