On January 23, 2025, the Trichy International Airport in Tamil Nadu witnessed the commissioning of the Doppler very high frequency omni range/distance measuring equipment (DVOR/DME) by AAI. The facility has reportedly been installed at a cost of Rs 76 million. The advanced navigational facility is expected to enhance the accuracy, safety and efficiency of air navigation. It incorporates advanced technologies to meet international aviation standards, ensuring seamless navigation for aircraft that are inbound, outbound or overflying. The airport handles around 77 domestic services connecting four destinations and 103 international services connecting 11 destinations per week.
