Metro Railway, Kolkata commences inspection on Esplanade-Sealdah stretch under Kolkata East West metro project

Metro Railway, Kolkata has commenced inspections on the 2.6 km Esplanade-Sealdah stretch under the Kolkata East-West metro project.

Besides, a comprehensive report regarding upgradation of automatic signalling system (communication-based train control) software for 12 stations will also be submitted to the Commissioner of Rail Safety (CRS). The CRS is likely to conduct its inspections by the end of March 2025.

The project involves construction and operation of a 16.6 km long metro connecting Sector 5, Salt Lake in Kolkata to Howrah Maidan through an underwater metro track at an estimated cost of Rs 100 billion in West Bengal.
