Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved the cost revision proposal for the Swargate-Katraj metro project from Rs 29.54 billion to Rs 36.37 billion. Of the total amount, the PMC is likely to outlay Rs 2.5 billion.
Besides, survey for the two additional stations namely Balaji Nagar and one ahead of Market Yard has been completed and the preliminary works are underway for the project.
The Swargate-Katraj metro project is planned to be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 36.37 billion. It involves extension of corridor 1 (Pimpri-Chinchwad-Swargate) of the Pune metro rail project – Phase I from Swargate to Katraj. Earlier the metro was 5.46 km long and had three underground stations viz. Market Yard, Padmavat and Katraj but two new stations Balaji Nagar and one ahead of Market Yard have also been proposed under the same. It will be implemented by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro).
